*Last week Bear Creek library was a busy place! Lots of fun things going on! All of 3rd grade came in to the library to download and log in to the new MackinVia platform on their iPads! Mrs. Johnson also went into several 1st grade classrooms to help them with MackinVia as well. Bear Creek is very excited to have access to such wonderful resources all in one place! Students will be able to access all of our eBooks and database with one click through MackinVia.
*Some students came into the library and were very surprised to see that the library computers were gone! Now that all of our students have iPads, they can search the library catalog by clicking on the "catalog and databases" tab at the top of this page or by downloading the Destiny Quest app from the app store. So students, remember to bring your iPads to the library! The newly cleared out space where the computers used to be will be used for maker stations! More info to come on that soon!
*Kindergarten and 1st graders got to hear Mrs. Johnson read The Day the Crayons Quit written by Drew Daywalt and illustrated by Oliver Jeffers. They are participating in the #SupportTheCrayons campaign because we want the crayons to stay! The students are coloring lovely pictures for the crayons and doing what the crayons asked Duncan to do in the story, because we love our crayons, and we want them to be happy! We only have a few days left to talk them into staying, so let's try our best to convince them to stay!

*The final wonderful thing that happened last week at Bear Creek library was that Mrs. Johnson was able to attend a very special day of learning with one of the most exceptional school librarians in the U.S: Shannon Miller! Shannon is from Iowa, and inspires librarians all over to "be the change" in our libraries. Her tips on technology and collaboration have given Mrs. Johnson great ideas for the year to come! Thanks to Shannon and the 4 other school districts who participated in this awesome day.
